I'm a swap-bot newbie, but I've been around the craft blogging community for a couple of years and have participated in some really fun swaps. This promises to be a very big year for me. My youngest turned 18 in January- making me the mom of 2 adults, my daughter is expecting her first child, a daughter, in May- making me a grandmother and in July I will turn 40. I've been married to the most wonderful man in the world for nearly 21 years and we live out in the country with our son, four dogs and two cats. I am a nurse, but for medical reasons I no longer work as a nurse. I spend my days sewing and letting dogs in and out of the house.

I like a variety of music from rock (mostly classic rock) to country to gospel. I'm not a big fan of rap, hip/hop or metal.

When it comes to reading, I don't stick to one particular genre. I don't tend to read romance or science fiction, but I enjoy a good mystery. Lately I buy more magazines than books and I love any type of crafting/home decorating magazine. I also enjoy sewing books.

I seem to have a short attention span when it comes to movies and almost never go to the theater. I'd rather save my money and watch in the comfort of my own home- that way I can pause the action if I want a snack. When I do watch a movie, I like romantic comedies, keep you on the edge of your seat psychological thrillers (not horror)and I don't mind watching an action flick with the boys if it has a good story line. Movies that I can watch again and again are Driving Miss Daisy, Shawshank Redemption, Forrest Gump, Fried Green Tomatoes, Silence of the Lambs, Little Miss Sunshine, ET, The Princess Bride and Notting Hill.

I don't watch a great deal of TV, but I do have a few shows I don't miss (thanks to DVR) LOST, Desperate Housewives, Grey's Anatomy and General Hospital. I also really enjoy American Idol and Survivor.

I enjoy sewing and am always trying to improve my skills. I have sewn more handbags than I could count and do quite a bit of sewing for my home. I've made a few simple clothing items, and would really like to learn more about pattern drafting. I look forward to all the cute dresses I'll be able to sew for my granddaughter. I can crochet, but consider myself a beginner. I have taken a class to learn to knit but it never quite clicked. I haven't given up though and plan to take a refresher class. I'm not very interested in paper crafting or scrapbooking. I find jewelry making fascinating but have never made any myself.

My personal style tends to be clean and simple with a touch of unexpected whimsy- if that make sense. I like things to be grounded with a neutral base or foundation with splashes of print and color that don't overwhelm. I'm drawn to cool blues and aqua. I like red in small amounts and think natural linen is the greatest thing since sliced bread. I'm not into frilly or ruffly except when I think of making things for my granddaughter- then bring on the pink ruffles. I wear jeans and a tee shirt most every day. I don't wear much jewelry, just my wedding band and some sort of necklace. I enjoy handmade necklaces that somehow reflect something about me. I like birds and trees and would rather have something vintage in my home than new. I am my absolute happiest when I can make something old, new again. I love to surprise people with how you can transform one man's trash into a treasure with a little fabric, paint, and elbow grease. I also have a love for patchwork.

I'm not into clutter or knick-knacks. I have breathing problems so please, please, don't send anything that smells of cigarette smoke. Although I love my dogs and cats, I don't collect dog or cat figurines or fabric or things with cartoon characters or punk/goth items. Actually I'm pretty easy to please, usually the simpler the better.
