I live in California, where I'm a college professor. I'm married and I have 2 young daughters. I also live with a Saint Bernard and a 19-year-old cat. I love to craft, read, and travel.

People tell me I have eclectic tastes, and I'm happy with that. :-) I really enjoy trying new things--new foods, new crafts, new places, new ideas.

I like receiving handmade things because I always appreciate the thought and effort that has gone into them. My favorite colors tend to be rich colors and jeweltones. I have a collection of cobalt blue glass, but I also have small collections of other things like postcards and plastic souvenir floaty pens. And more books than I could read in years--but I keep acquiring more.

I love documentaries and independent films and, because of my kids, I end up watching a lot of Disney, too. I don't know if I have a favorite because it really depends on my mood, but I've probably seen The Princess Bride more times than any other movie. Oh, and I'm a big fan of Miyazaki films!

Knitting is my very favorite. I've recently taken up a bit of ceramics, though, and I've also done some quilting and bits of this and that. I'd like to learn how to sew. I've been enjoying some scrapbooking lately, too. In general, I actually just enjoy the creative process and I like all sorts of crafts. I also like to write. I've published a couple of textbooks, but I'd really love to do more short story writing.

I like yarn, fabrics, and pretty papers. I collect plastic souvenir floaty pens, postcards, and children's books in languages other than English. My older daughter collects snow globes and squished pennies. I like cobalt blue, deep red, royal purple, and tealish green. I have a major sweet tooth. My favorite candies involve chocolate and caramel: Curly Wurlies, Recchiuti Fleur de Sel, and Sees. I love to get things from other countries. I have a fondness for things that are a little macabre, goth, or off-beat. I try not to take myself, or life, too seriously, and I tend to be pretty tolerant of most things.

There's not much I don't like, but here are some things I could live without: pastels, anything religious, country decor, some cutesy things, and meat (I'm not completely veggie yet, but I don't eat mammals at all, and don't eat many other animals either).

Some of my favorite authors are Isabel Allende, Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Stephen King, Mark Twain, Kurt Vonnegut. I like both fiction and non-fiction. I rarely read mysteries or spy thrillers, and I'm not into romance novels, chick lit, or religious stuff. Pretty much everything else is fair game for me. I have nearly 200 items on my Amazon wish-list. :-)
