My name is Laney. I have a Bachelor's and Master's in Economics from the University of Alabama. I am in the process of looking for a real job.

I grew up in a creative household (my dad's an opera singer and my mom used to make all our clothes), so it is no surprise that now I am becoming quite crafty myself. I've been sewing for just about three years now and I am really enjoying it. I love making things and designing my own patterns. I've been knitting since I was about 7, but I'm still very basic at it. I've recently picked up papercrafts and I love them! I like making cards to go with the gifts I make people, and that is really turning into making tons of cards for swapping.

Oldies are my favorite, but I listen to just about anything. I tend to flip between the oldies station and the country station, though.

Outlander Series by Diana Gabaldon, East of Eden, Nicholas Sparks books, Mary Balough books, Julia Quinn books, Twilight, Harry Potter, I really enjoy romance and young adult, as I generally read to relax. But the classics are always interesting.

I love to sew. It is quickly surpassing music and writing as my favorite pass-time and stress reliever. Knitting has been a long-time hobby of mine, but I've never gotten very good. I'm still in the basics. Scarves, simple hats, blankets, etc. But I'm ok with that. I love to knit in class or while reading/watching tv, which is much easier when it's a basic pattern. I have recently started cross-stitching and I enjoy it very much. It's perfect for taking along when I can't have my sewing machine, or if I'm watching a movie or something. I'm hoping to expand this to hand embroidery soon.

My favorite color is purple. I also like grey and yellow. University of Alabama things in Crimson or Houndstooth are ALWAYS welcome. I love my three cats. Toys for them are always appreciated, but please, no catnip! We believe in drug-free kitties. I also have three rats. Hammocks and baskets for them is also great. Things that clip onto the sides of the cage are perfect. I am in love with the geekiest man I've ever met. Most people around me are geeky, but I've never gotten into it. Any masculine geeky gifts are awesome, since I don't know much about the subject. I love to swim, and do so throughout the year. I like penguins. I like to collect rubber stamps. Clear stamps are awesome, too. SO much easier to store.
