Hi!

I am Sylvia and I am a writer, poet, artist and avid crafter :)

I live in the Netherlands with my husband and our two cats.

I am first and foremost a writer, write every day, or at least try to. Most of the daily writing consists of journaling and poetry. I have fallen in love with writing micro poetry, but also write long poems.

I am currently working on a novel (well more, have some on the back burner), a non-fiction book and I also write blog posts when I remember to write them (need to get more diligent on my blogging!)

I have started to make junk journals, from scrap paper and such and I LOVE to make cards and to let my Sizzix work so hard it gets steam out of its plates :)

I really look forward to swapping, especially snail mail!!

Likes

• My favourite colours: purple, pink, fuchsia, orange, red, sea green, light blue, not too bright yellow (basically any color but brown, dark green and navy blue :D )
• coloured paper! The more colourful, the better :)
• those free postcards with funny ads or gorgeous art
• my favorite flowers are yellow roses and lily of the valley. Any image with those on it would be VERY welcome :)
• bookmarks from the book depository and other sources
• I love prints from magazines, colourful, mostly abstract images to use in my art (can be ads too, with trees etc on it, or gorgeous buildings)
• Buddha and buddhism related items (also clippings from magazines)
• my big love is medieval buildings and vintage photo's, like those 1920's model shoots. They are often on packing paper and whatnot.
• diary stickers (with cute girls, nothing with animals unless cats, owls or elephants)
• washi tape (especially the credit card size sample cards that I can use in my journal)
• pages from old books that have fallen apart
• wool roving scraps to use in my needle felting
• kool aid to dye wool with
• international ink cartridges in purple/pink to feed my fountain pens with
• gel pens and fineliners in bright colours
• black sharpies! I can't get those here and they are awesome for my art
• Hello Kitty
• Pochacco (so hard to find stuff from him over here!)
• Anything with Winnie the Pooh

And a tiny request for my swap partners (or private swap)! If you are a scrapbooker or paper crafter, I would love it if you send me your left over paper scraps along with the swap!
I love to use them in my crafting (not too tiny pieces tho, lets say from 1/4 size of a postcard and up). If you send me an envelope of scrap paper, I will send you a mini wire bound junk journal in return :)

Tea specific:

• Chai tea
• green tea (also with jasmine and lemon flavor)
• love herbal teas! Mint, chamomile and licorice ar my favorites :)

Dislikes

• Anything with artificial smells (have asthma so can't handle those). This includes those fruity gel pens, even though they have such pretty colours.
• chocolate (well I love the stuff but my skin hates it :) )
• candy/food with gelatin in it (am a vegetarian), then again, my husband eats it, so it won't go to waste if you accidentally send me some with the stuff in it :D
• anything religious, except buddhism and pictures of (medieval) churches and Mary/Mary Magdalen

I had my mom on the phone the other day, and I told her we were going to see one of my favourite bands, and she said, "How many favourite bands do you have already, you keep saying you go see a favourite band of yours!"

Well, the truth is, there are many, but my top 10 is usually unchanged, the numbers before the band tend to change.

The past couple of years, one band leaped to the top spot and stayed there, that is Radiohead.

Also love U2, Muse (the band I went to see last week), Amanda Palmer, Dresden Dolls, Alt-J, Django Django, Tori Amos, Oasis, the Beatles (my first favourite band, from the age of 8 onwards) , Neutral Milk Hotel and Father John Misty (most recent addition to the top 10)

I am a writer, so I am an avid reader. If you think it was hard to pick a favourite for me in the music section, guess how hard it is to pick favourites in the books.

My favourite genre is Fantasy, and I have many favourites in there, Neil Gaiman for instance, and the sorely missed Terry Pratchett, Robin Hobb, Patrick Rothfuss and Trudi Canavan.

Also love to read science fiction, mystery, thrillers and regency romance :)

My husband and I go to the cinema quite a lot, we have such a varied taste in movies and therefor we can go see a drama first and then an action movie and then a thriller.

Some of my favourite movies are:

* the Harry Potter movies, esp. Azkaban
* Love Actually (see it every year)

I am an artist, and I love to play with all sorts of materials, like watercolour, pencils, gouache, markers etc
