About Me

Hello!
Just last week (12 Nov 24), we had to say goodbye to our beloved doggo, Winston, better known as Bloopie. My heart is so broken, but I also feel so blessed that he lived as long as he did (13 years and 7 months, which is impressive for a Doberman). Not sure that I will be too active here over the coming weeks as I nurse my hurting heart, but rest assured, I will check in every few days to make sure nothing is amiss and needing my attention. Thank you to all who have asked after my precious companion over the past couple of years, you all are too sweet ❤︎❤︎❤︎

This month (Nov/2024) is my three year anniversary on swap-bot! That is so exciting! I wanted to update my profile a bit since I am no longer a "newbie!" While I still have much to learn about interacting and participating on this site....I am proud of how far I have come :D I look forward to many more anniversaries to come on this site, so thanks for taking the time to look through my profile and I look forward to swapping with you in the future (or right now, depending on why you are reading my profile!) (•◡•) /

I love exchanging letters (snail mail), goodies, and the like through the mail, and have tried to get my various family members and friends to do it with me in the past. However, not everyone is interested (shocker, I know), so this has become that creative outlet for me :) ⊂( ・∀・) 彡 ✉︎

My favorite thing about my life is being the mom to my young adult daughter. We do many (read: most) things together, like going to museums, libraries, parks, road trips, and shopping. She even got me into K-pop a little over 15 years ago now and many of our adventures include K-pop in some form. She keeps me young, or at least reminds me to keep a more youthful frame of mind, especially with things like being hopeful, optimistic, and trying to not get too cynical about life. We own a precious, but bully of a doggo. He is a rescue Doberman who thinks he rules the world, cause he does. He is getting quite grumpy in his old age, but is still quite sweet (he turned 13 this past April, which is getting up there for a Doberman). He bullies us with his aggressive cuddles and then his disdain when he is done with us.

Some other things I enjoy doing include scrapbooking, knitting, sewing, reading, journaling (I have kept a journal since I was 11 years old), photography, cross-stitching, polymer clay, and gardening (both indoor and out). Because of scrapbooking, I had thought that I have a large stationery, sticker, and whatnot collection. But participating on this site has taught me, I still have a ways to go to be considered an avid collector, so I am ALWAYS looking to add to it! So I guess, add collecting stationery-like things to the list of things I like to do. Things I don't enjoy doing include cooking (although I tolerate baking because - sugar), cleaning/chores, exercise (although I do it because it is good for me or some nonsense like that), and talking on the phone. Things I want to learn in the near future include canning, crocheting, and digital scrapbooking (I am sure I will add to this list in the future).

Swapping Tidbit

I am sure this section will continue to morph, be updated, and deepen over time. But as for now, one of the most important things to know about swapping with me is that several people in my household have pretty severe asthma, so no strong smelling anything. I prefer most everything as fragrance-free as possible. I know it is impossible to live completely fragrance-free, but we do a pretty decent job at it in this household. Much appreciated in advance. ヽ(´ー`)ノ。o○ Thanks~

Loves/Likes/Interests

--Letters (snail mail), whatever form it comes in, like quick post cards, long in-depth letters, and everything in between. I love learning about/connecting with others, so I am really interested in pen palling (I've seen the term pen friends floating around this site. While I had not heard of that term before coming to swap.bot, it sounds lovely). 🐌💌

--All things stationery-related, like papers, stickers, washi tape, die cuts, pens, markers, coloring pages, post cards, sticky notes, inks, stamps, punches (you get it, the list goes on. Plus you may know of something fabulous that I have yet to discover. I am always willing to learn about other forms of stationery-related goodies).

--Regarding the above love of stationery, I love all sorts of themes, including cutesy/Kawaii (my daughter has been collecting stickers for almost 2 decades now, so our cute collection is nothing to sneeze at), animals, food, botanicals, vintage, people, holidays, cartoons (in short, I rarely meet a sticker/washi tape/sticky note that I do not love). That being said, I'm not into gory, horror, or scary (I spook easily!)

--Anything plant related (just a few years ago, I went from 4 plants to over 130 in about a year's time. I'm a little addicted. Although, after getting a root aphid infestation [we are calling the "aphid apocalypse"] in 2022, we now have just under 90 plants. It was a nightmare that just keeps on giving, but we are learning to manage them because they have yet to be truly, completely gone. I can discuss anything plant related ad nauseam, so beware :) ˚𖡼𖤣𖥧𖡼𓋼𖤣𖥧𓋼𓍊

--Anything book/learning related (I love learning and you will usually find my nose buried in a book. I also find the smell and environs of libraries comforting and will definitely hide in one when stressed). It would be easier to write the list of things I don't like to read, which is horror/gory (again, I spook easily). Other than that, I am willing to give most literature genres a try. 📚

--All things art and craft related. The other place I escape to when stressed is the museum (it is a safe space, surrounded by beautiful things). I, myself, cannot draw a proper stick figure, but truly appreciate others' artistic endeavors.

--Music is another destresser for me. I have very eclectic music interests, being raised by parents with very dissimilar music tastes, I learned to love many diverse genres. This includes, but is not limited to: jazz, blues, classical, opera, pop, rock, rap, hip hop, folk, and yes, even "elevator music." I also like to challenge myself with music I don't appreciate right away. I give it some time, see if it will grow on me. And lastly, the above mentioned K-pop, with which I share a love of with my daughter. Should any of you share a similar interest in K-pop, but have no where to rant about it, let me know! We can rant away together :) ੈ✩・:˚:✧。♬♪

--Old movies, I love older movies (we're talking the "Golden Era of Hollywood" and older), especially musicals. I danced throughout childhood and adolescence and admire the dancing skills of others. I also enjoy really bad sci-fi, from like the 50's and 60's (you know, the kind that is so bad that it is good?). I don't tend to do dramas, as life has enough dramatics in it for me, so I don't usually find it entertaining to watch. And again, no horror/gory/scary movies (unless it is a silly/funny spoof of one).

--Tea is acceptable (for me to share with my family...I drink it to bond with my family, but may or may not enjoy the liquid myself. We look for different teas for the family to try when traveling, or even going to a new store, and that has been a lot of fun).

--Some beauty related items, pampering oneself is always lovely. But again, the scents can be an issue. I have pretty dry skin that thinks it is constantly at war with the world at large. I try to convince it otherwise, but it mostly does not listen!

--Items from differing cultures, backgrounds, and the like. I grew up as a military brat, living in many places overseas, before returning stateside as an older child. I loved it, learning about people, cultures, viewpoints! I am interested in just about anything on this topic, such as stories, personal experiences, your love for your own culture, food, candies, traditions, trinkets, post cards, whatever, I am not picky when it comes to what people want to share about their culture. I love it all -`♡´-

-Similar to the topic above, within the U.S. there are different cultures, varying from region to region, state to state, even city to city. I adore roadtripping across the country and immersing myself in the culture, lifestyle, and experiences in different parts of the U.S. So please feel free to share your love of your state/city with me, in any form that floats your boat.

--That is all for now, I will update, clean up, add to this list in the future, as I have more experiences swapping! ♡( ◡‿◡ )

Dislikes

-It bears repeating that I prefer all items entering my home to be as fragrance free as possible, as several members of my family have more severe asthma and cannot breathe with most scents assaulting their lungs.

--As for other dislikes, I do not have an extensive list as of yet (only two years in, I am still learning). I have listed some things above in my loves/likes section (as exceptions to what I enjoy). But as for a more in-depth list, I am still not sure what is possible to dislike yet, so appreciate, in advance, your patience with me as I become more experienced with swapping. I will update this list in the future as the need arises... ( ^◡^)っ ♡

Comment: Oh dear! Excuse me for being so late with your rating! I just had life happen 😞. Your stitches are so much straighter than mine! Old hands. Hope you have a wonderful fall!🌻🍁🍄🍂
Response: No problem at all! Life is so pesky, getting in the way, all the time!!! My stitches are only as straight as they are because I drew a pencil mark first, lol! Without that, they would be all over the place, more than they are already :D Hope your fall is lovely as well .𖥔 ݁ ˖🍁๋࣭ ⭑🍂༘⋆ ༄˖°.🥧.ೃ࿔*:・

Response: Yay! I am so glad you got and enjoyed the swap :D That makes my day! You must be over the moon that Jin is back! I also have a soft spot for them all <3 While I no longer have a bias (or they are all bias wreckers), in the beginning it was Jungkook for me because of his voice. I could listen to him sing a grocery shopping list all day long ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Comment: My Dear Georgianna, What a wonderful way to wile away these balmy afternoons. I have been teaching the girls their stitches as well. Your Dear Emmaline seems to excel at needlework, you are a good teacher. While i was instructing the girls, the French knot, ever a frustration to me, was not such an easy thing to demonstrate, but their girls seem to have more nimble fingers, their samplers looking far superior to my own. More practice for me, I think! Many thanks to you and your cook for the refreshing tea. It surely lessened the heat of our afternoon. With all good wishes, Elizabeth
Response: Dearest Elizabeth, So heartened to hear that the mint and lemon tea was a hit. I will have to share the news with my sweet cook. Is it not amusing when our students out-excel us as teachers?! I, too, found the french knot a little vexing, but what truly had me perplexed was the chain stitch. Goodness, it took me an age to embroider it consistently! Hoping we can meet again soon, Georgianna

Comment: I absolutely love all my handmade Halloween goodies! The first things I noticed were the “burnt” pumpkins, but I had no idea they were burnt until I read that they were. LOL! I just thought that they were very adeptly painted! I love them! I love all the little clay figures. I have the perfect place for them; a little coffin shelf in my bedroom! The wire spider web is just beautiful!!! That is definitely going to hang up all year round as well. So are the AMAZING paintings! Of course I’m blown away by Klara’s artistic ability. I plan on getting another mini easel to display the “house” painting next to the previous painting I got from Klara. I love, love, love the ghost and frog paintings so much! Those definitely deserve to be framed. The spooky, vintage themed, handmade stationery and address labels are so awesome! I can’t wait to use them next year. I’m thrilled with the washi, paper, and stickers from the Paper Source. The spooky plant stickers are my favorite. They are too cute!!! I carefully unwrapped everything and kept most of the paper and ribbons to use for future projects. Everything was wrapped so beautifully. Thank you for doing this swap with me and putting so much time, thought, and artistic energy into it. It was so much fun for me and I hope that we can do it again. I always enjoy swapping with you guys. You all are the best!!!
Response: YAYAYAYAYAYAYAY!!! I am so relieved you loved it all so much! We absolutely adore making things for you and had a lovely time doing it :D Klara will be thrilled to know that her creations will take up year-round residence in your home! (As your's are in our's!) Looking forward to when we can do this again <3 May you have a lovely end to this month!
