Hi Dani,

I have to admit at the outset that I didn’t just randomly happen across your page here. Actually, I came across your page on Interpals sometime ago and left you a message there. However, I noticed that you hadn’t logged in there in ages and so had probably stopped using the site and never received my message. Still being keen to talk to you, I thought I’d see if you were anywhere else on the web, and a quick google led me here.

I could now proceed into a whole introduction and explanation of why I was/am so keen to talk to you. However, that was really the content of the message I left for you on Interpals. So here I shall limit myself to a small request: if you have a moment, could you please look up that message? If nothing else, it’ll help you make a little more sense of this message, which I’m sure is sounding very odd to you at the moment.

And on that point about oddness, I realise that in searching for and contacting you in this way I run the risk of seeming kind of creepy. Unfortunately though, it seemed that my only options were either to run that risk or to run the risk that you never signed into Interpals again, never read my message, and that I would never hear from you as you would never have heard from me.

In defence against the charge of creepiness, I can only hope that my interpals message will show you that my intentions are distinctly non-creepy. Also, I’m a year your junior if that’s any reassurance, creepy people tend to be older, don’t they?

Nonetheless, you’d be quite justified in asking why, after not hearing back from you, didn’t I just move on to message someone who had actually signed into Interpals recently? And this is a hard question to answer. The fact is, while I can honestly assure you that ‘creepy’ isn’t an accurate description of me, I think that ‘instinctive’ is. Every so often I will get an instinct about something I should do – a person I should talk to, a choice I should make etc. These instincts come rarely, but when they do I tend to trust them. And after reading your profile, such an instinct made me feel quite strongly that I should talk to you, that perhaps we might get along.

Of course, this instinct could be totally misguided, and it may be that we wouldn't make good email pen-pals at all. But this instinct of mine is still strong enough to make me want to find out for sure.

So please – read the message I sent you on interpals, and we’ll see what happens from there. I really hope that I will hear from you at least once, so that this little instinct of mine can be put to the test.

P.S - I'm really hoping you actually sign in to this site sometime, so that both of my messages don't go unseen!
