Description:

Our Book Club kicks off in August!

I am posting this early to give you all a feel of how it will run after that. I wanted to give this first one a few extra days to get noticed so everyone will know when they have to sign up and send by for future ones.

Each month I will post 6 books for you to choose ONE to read for the Book Club for your swap (you certainly may choose more, but one is the minimum). I will post the books on the 1st of the month (except for this to give you more time) and sign ups will stay up through the 7th of that month. The send date will be the 6th of the following month. That will give you about a month to read, and 6 days to send out your swap. If the swap is not sent out on or before the 6th (please note any weekends and holidays and send prior to that) I won't allow you in the next months swap.

  • Sign ups will be held the 1st through the 7th of each month
  • One full month to read one chosen book
  • send date will be the 6th of the following month

Any questions? Post below, PM me or ask in the group forum. Now that we are done with that ~ the first months books!! :)

August Book Club! Choose from ~

NOTE ~ if the book I have chosen is part of a series, and you have read it, you MAY read the book in the series you are currently on. Just make a note to your partners that it is a part of the series of the one that is chosen.

After you read your book, write to you partner all about the book and please write at least two full size pages (8.5x10 or A4), by hand, one if typed. Here are some questions that you can answer about the book to help you tell about it, please answer at least 4 (half) of the questions ~

  • What was the book about?
  • Did you like it, or dislike it?
  • What was your favorite part or character, what was your least favorite?
  • Have you read other books by the author, would you read more books by the author because of this book?
  • Were there situations or characters that you identified with, and how?
  • If you could change something about the book, what would it be and how would you change it?
  • Did you like the book from the beginning or did it take a while for you to get into it?
  • Would you ask the author a question if you could? What question would you ask?

No rating requirements, since it's in the group. Please send on or before the 6th. If I get on to assign partners at midnight on the 7th/8th and it wasn't sent, I won't allow that person in the current swap. Please sent on time! Don't forget to rate your partner when you have received your swap! It's the other half to the Swap-Bot transaction!

This is a Type 2 International swap. If there is a HUGE desire to do it by email, I will also do it by email. PM me or leave a comment that you want/prefer email.

Three from my to-read list! Gah, how to decide? I'll probably just read the one I already have on my iPod....

For those interested in such things, the prices on Kindle/I am cheap, and with a couple off of my reading list, it was a way to decide: Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath ~ $9.99 Devil in the White City by Erik Larson ~ $9.99 Divergent by Veronica Roth ~ $3.77 Fault in our Stars by John Green ~ $3.99 Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn ~ $12.99 Wicked by Gregory Maguire ~ $6.83

So if we want to read and write about more than one book on the list that is allowed right?

ImzadiRose 07/28/2013 #

Absolutely you can write about more than 1 if you would like. :)

martingale 07/28/2013 #

I've just hit Amazon and two of them should be arriving on my doorstep on Tuesday...

smadronia 07/29/2013 #

And I just found my nook today, so I'll be hunting a couple of these. Divergent is sitting on my coffee table, but I think I'll find one more.

Just for the record, I'd like an email version. $1.10 for international letters is painful to me :/

Hollycarole92 07/29/2013 #

I think email would be easier, but I'll participate either way.

ImzadiRose 07/29/2013 #

Would email be better or a separate USA and Intl type 2? I want to make sure everyone is able to join up each time.

jeanland 07/29/2013 #

I'm good with either one (email or snail-mail). I've already started reading one of the books! :o)

missmuffcake 07/30/2013 #

I have Fault in our Stars by John Green - been saving it for something special - a special day maybe. I will pull it out!

smadronia 07/31/2013 #

I am game for either email or paper, and I don't care if it's USA only or International.

Hollycarole92 08/ 2/2013 #

Ahhhhh! This swap needs to open, I've already finished my book! xD
