I hosted this swap in my other group, and it was a lot of fun. So I thought I'd share it here, too!

International, 1 partner

Check out this site: Send a Postcard/letter hybrid

These instructions seem to be at least 2 years old, and seem to be from the USA. For that reason, I can't promise the finished product will be mailable with just a single postcard stamp - but, it should work for a first class stamp, like a postalette/fold and mail letter does.

For this swap, check out the website above and follow the instructions to create a Franken-letter (you'll understand that once you read the instructions). Images & colors are sender's choice but it's it nice to check your partner's profile? :) Write a letter to your partner (any topic, your choice), fold it up and mail it to your partner. Remember to include the swap title and your SB ID in the letter! Check the postage for this Franken-letter - if you take it into the post office and they will ok it for just one postcard stamp, go for it! Otherwise, you might want to go with a first class stamp.

Postcards are usually about 4x6 inches in size - if you go larger, it might cost more. If you go smaller, it might get lost in the mail. As you create your Franken-letter, keep that in mind. This link includes this information for postcards: "Postcards are for short messages that you don't need to put in an envelope. Save money using a $0.48 postcard stamp to send a standard-sized postcard anywhere in the U.S. Standard postcards are usually made of paper, are between 5" to 6" long and 3-1/2" to 4-1/4" high, and are between 0.007" and 0.016" thick." That link has additional information, if you are curious!

Questions? Comments? Concerns? Please send me a PM I will reply as soon as I can. If this is fun and you'd like to do it again, please let me know! We can also do a USA only version, if you'd like.

I haven't personally tried mailing one of these with just a postcard stamp, but I did receive one w/ in the US that mailed with a postcard stamp. Might still be a good idea to check with your post office!

Our local post office has been strict lately. So yes I agree check because what other people send in a postcard stamp could be returned to sender by my post office. They charge a full stamp if the postcard is thick or they charge extra if it’s covered in plastic— quite a bit more than a regular stamp even. They’ve returned items to me that had too much decoration (now I’m wary to put things on the outside of the envelope or postcard like washi tape or paint).
