Description:

Doncha just love to swap postcards? Well heck then, let's do it again!

Here are the details:

1) You will have five partners.

2) Send your partner a postcard, either handmade or store bought.

3) On the back of the postcard, share one of the following: what inspired you to make the card (if handmade), your favorite get-away place, a little something about your day, or a little bit about where or why you bought the card (if store bought).

Newbies are welcome, if profile is completely filled out. People with recent no sends are not welcome to this swap (host will use her discretion, based on ratings, responses, person sent to, and circumstances).

THIS IS A LOW EXPECTATION SWAP. Please, ratings of five if you get your postcard, whether you like it or not. Your personal feeling about the way the postcard looks is not the point: the point is that you got your postcard.

And before you rate someone with a one, please follow up with an email. Since this is international, it may take some time for the postcard to reach you. And, postcards sometimes do get eaten by postal machines. Give your partner a chance to explain and send another if need be, before slapping a one down in their ratings kitty.

Now let's swap posties!

My favorite part about your postcard swaps is that you include a list of what to write about! Sometimes I end up writing something dumb because I just don't know what to say, but when I have a little prompt, it's so easy! I hope you keep up this swap ~ I love it!

kkk_katie- I so agree! I never know what to write. I have used Wikiquote (part of Wikipedia) a lot to get quotes just to write something...

brandigirl72 06/23/2007 #

How about weird state laws. I found some funny ones for my state http://www.floydpinkerton.net/fun/laws.html

dinoshan 07/12/2007 #

do you guys send your postcards the way it is or put it in an envelop? this will be my first postcard international swap by the way.. very excited and need some guidance! :D

user7902 07/12/2007 #

I am going to be sending mine without the envelope as they are all store-bought, so they are flat on the picture side. I was in a postcard swap where I handmade the cards, so they were embellished. I messaged each of my partners and asked if they were OK with me sending them in an envelope, so they didn't get damamged. They were fine about it.

All my partners were in the US and I'm in th UK, so I wanted them to get there in one piece.

Hope that helps. If not sure though, you could message the swap host and see what they recommend.

Lisa

I never send in an envelope, and I prefer to receive without the envelope. Postal wear makes the card all the more appealing to me :-)

I like that this swap has suggested topics to write about. I've gotten so many "here is the card for the _____________ swap," postcards in recent weeks.

scubated 07/12/2007 #

The only place to get anything other than a State postcard is an adult bookstore, so this should be interesting :).

dinoshan 07/13/2007 #

thanks for all your replies :)

actually here in singapore, there's loads of free postcards around. those are actually more attractive as compared to store-bought (all advertisement purposes).

do swappers prefer store-bought postcards? or at least postcards with sceneries of the sender's country?

Trischi 07/13/2007 #

From you expirience, how safe is it to send handmade postcards overseas? that is, safe for the postcard ofcourse :)

PostMuse 07/13/2007 #

Ooo... adult postcards. I have one sent to me by a guy in one of my many postcard groups many years ago. Features Mustang Ranch (google it if you don't know the significance) ladies and on the back the sender wrote "Had a great time! Hope to see you again real soon." I just loved knowing the postal employees where my P.O. Box was had a great time reading that postcard and wondering....

PostMuse 07/13/2007 #

Oh, and I have had no trouble sending homemade postcards overseas.

nicole 07/13/2007 #

tell me about it postmuse... i hate just a "blank" card. having just a little tidbit of info or a random thought makes postcards so very much more fun and exciting.

and yes... POSTMARKS!

dinoshan... i usually don't like advert cards, however; if it were from someplace that was foreign to me, i think that could be interesting.

dinoshan 07/14/2007 #

nicole: thanks for your reply! got it :) will just shop around for pretty postcards before swapping starts!

PostMuse 07/14/2007 #

Just want to add that I received some wonderful advertising pc's recently...they were very creative and unique. They're among my favorites!! So I think it really depends on the postcard, too. :D

I sent my cards to Seashell, Cathy, schlabs, WomenTrip, and GypsySong today. Some of them are going very far overseas so they make take a bit!

PostMuse 07/21/2007 #

Got a very cool postcard from one of the participants, but sadly, no message on the back in accordance with the swap description, "3) On the back of the postcard, share one of the following: what inspired you to make the card (if handmade), your favorite get-away place, a little something about your day, or a little bit about where or why you bought the card (if store bought)." I didn't rate down for it, but decided to make a note here just because one of the reasons I was particularly excited about this swap is that I like to read more than "this is for ________ swap" on the back of postcards.

user8938 07/23/2007 #

I sent my postcards today to raynekitten scuba_ted The Abstract Noun Iloenchen Jintro and the Great Luna. 3 are going overseas, so I have my fingers crossed that they make the trip quickly :) I've so enjoyed the ones I've rec'd so far- thanks swappers :)
