Description:

For this swap you will take one of the itty bitty stockings (4" or so) and stuff it is full as you can with little surprises for your partner. Check your partner's profile for ideas, and try to get as many little treats into the stocking as you can!

Ideas: candies, tea bags, hot cocoa, lip glosses, ATCs, small craft stuff like beads, embellishments, etc. Knickknacks, pens, memo sheets, stickers, handmade stuff, jewelry, ribbons - whatever you think they'll love. Get creative. Make it awesome. Send a stocking you'd be excited to receive yourself.

Aim for a value of around $5. It shouldn't take a ton of money to fill one of these little guys up and make it special. :)

You can hand-make, or decorate the little stockings, but it isn't necessary.

5.0 rating only, please. You must also have at least 12 recent rated snail mail/package swaps.

Have fun! :)

Too bad you have to have a 5.0 since there are so many good swappers here that don't.

WestMichiganGuy 11/13/2009 #

Question....Now for the cost to send part. It would have to go as small packet/package. Yes, those need special care so there not tampered with so PRIORITY MAIL SMALL PACK is the best way. I send stuff out all over the world so I know all this and just wanted to help out.

girlpirate 11/13/2009 #

@zigg13pra What's the norm for rating specs on this sort of swap? I know some folks get rated unfairly, but I always feel awkward judging on a case by case basis, hence the 5s only. I did consider changing it to 4.9 with no recent 1s... is that more the norm? I am new to hosting so any advice is always welcome :)

pearlie 11/13/2009 #

Everyone has the chance to host swaps and set their own requirements. If you want only 5's, that's your right to say so. Maybe other swaps you host you'll change the requirements as you feel that comfort level to. Thanks for hosting such a cute swap, and I'm looking forward to it.

DarbyFlats 11/14/2009 #

What pearlie said. :)

AgentWoods 11/14/2009 #

I would love to join this swap, but am a newbie. It seems I'm blocked from most everything except for post-card swaps just because I'm new :(

Is there any way an exception could be made? I'm super crafty, and love putting together gifts for others.

Darleneh710 11/17/2009 #

How recent do the swaps have to be? I took a few months off from swapping on here. thanks!

Darleneh710 11/17/2009 #

@AgentWoods you could always host your own swap, but if it same as another one's just ask for permisson from that person...most likely they will say yes... you could do a newbie friendly swap:) hope this helps

Cupcakecalamity 11/17/2009 #

Alrighty. I have created the same swap but for everyone else. Everyone is welcome no matter rating, newbie status, or region that they live. It can be found here: http://www.swap-bot.com/swap/show/49354?new=1 girlpirate- I have credited you for the original idea. Thanks!

@girlpirate I want to thank you for requiring a 5.0 and 12 ratings as I've been flaked on a few times already (anticipating several more too) and have consistently had problems with late senders (who click on Sent before they have sent). I'm not joining any more swaps with no requirements anymore so I hope you'll keep this one the way it is.

girlpirate 11/17/2009 #

@AgentWoods I'm sorry, but not this time. You'll get rated in no time and that will open up lots of doors. Just be patient and keep mailin'. :)

@Darleneh710 You're obviously very reliable, I'd love to have you join us!

@CariahCreates Thanks for your support! I got a few unkind messages about the boundaries I set for this swap, and I really appreciate the encouragement.

I have been flaked on so many swaps like this (gift exchanges, anything that requires significant spending, etc). I really wanted to create a safe environment for those of us who need to get a little joy back. ;)

SkippyMom 11/17/2009 #

I just hosted a 5.0 rating/10 package/craft swap for ATCs and had a huge turnout [made the TOP TEN - #6] and I can see why - people are tired of being flaked on - and this was only an ATC swap.

I did add in a stipulation that if you had less than a 5.0 to contact me and I would consider on a case by case basis. There are good swappers on here that have old ratings that should be disregarded, but a host has a right to choose whatever they want.

And @Agent Woods I am getting tired of newbies complaining that they don't have any great swaps to join - they exist - believe me, you aren't looking hard enough - I have had to avoid several swaps in the past few weeks because they were so newbie friendly. So your argument holds no merit. And if you don't have one you like? Make your own, make it newbie friendly and then host it. Sorry if that sounds harsh, but what you say is so untrue - there are so many other swaps than p/c and emails for newbies. I have been here a year and one of my first swaps was for candles.

So,I am sorry that some people are left out of some swaps [newbies and less than 5's] but it is the host's choice and I don't blame them. Just my opinion of course.

This is a sweet swap!

SkippyMom 11/17/2009 #

If anyone needs proof that PACKAGE swaps exist for NEWBIES please visit @Cariahcreates profile - she has 15 swaps with 15 fives with hearts that are ALL package. She has swapped only 17 times.

Just want you all to know that they do exist. Look for them like Miss Cariah did. Awesome!

CariahCreates 11/18/2009 #

Thanks @SkippyMom ! I toiled through the newbie only swaps and didn't complain and have finally gotten to the point where I can join swaps with higher requirements. Unfortunately the newbie swaps tend to attract flakers but I've been lucky with generous hosts who have angeled for me. Just be patient-similar swaps roll around all the time if you have to miss out on one.

pumpkinniki 11/20/2009 #

I am only interested as long as the requirements remain, too. Many complain about swaps with requirements, many complain about swaps without them. You CAN'T make everyone happy. And it seems the complaints are more likely to be voiced than the support. For what it is worth...many kudos to you for "sticking to your guns."

karenchristine13 11/21/2009 #

I agree with everyone here. I am avoiding newbie friendly swaps from now on like the plague.

Trinket 11/22/2009 #

Toiling as a newbie is one thing, but being in the Uk is another. Shame I cant join in. Unless there is an international version running?

ShandaPanda 11/23/2009 #

Thanks for being tough on who can join~I would much rather join this one than a "newbie friendly, everyone welcome" swap. With so many flakes not everyone should be welcome.

girlpirate 11/23/2009 #

@Trinket I made this one USA only because I wasn't sure with a December 4th send-by, that items would reach overseas. And since everyone has joined with the assumption that they won't have to pay to send overseas, I can't make an exception. :( I'm sorry. Perhaps someone would be game for doing a private tiny stocking swap?

motes 11/25/2009 #

Hang in there girlpirate--thank you for sticking to your requirements!
