Cemetery Photos

First joiner! LOL! My requests: strange tombstones, very old tombstones, Black folkways graves, any that are unique to any ethnic culture, graves with personal touches, historical (NOT in the way of famous people, but of a unique time in history - the history of ordinary people, as I like to say). That being said, I will be happy with any photos. Also, I realize that time may be an issue as well, so if you get me for a partner, don't feel bad - just do what you can.

On the first go around I got three pictures from a cemetery in New Mexico where many of the people were like John Does so the markers would say UNKNOWN in English or Spanish depending. It was cool and kinda creepy all at once. lol No special requests from me, just your favorite pictures. I promise to love them all!!

@sebastian122 thanks for letting me know. my friend and i are going this weekend to snap some pictures. will have to do this again, there is a cemetary in americus ga where a guy was supposedly buried with his horse. i dont have the time to get there before the swap comes due, but maybe next time i can get over that way.

I'm a newbie, but I love taking pics in cemetaries, so I had to get in on this one.

Mostly I'm in this one to share. My mom and I go walking around in cemeteries every time she comes to visit me and there are some very historical ones in my area. If you are into Americana, you are going to be pleased.

@PhanromaLain I live in Morristown, NJ "Headquarters of the American Revolution" and there are some really impressive period headstones near my house. Where are you?

Anyone have a 'Holy Grail' of cemeteries? I'm luck enough to have been to mine... the Valley of the Kings! lol

I'm fond of the military headstones... either the upright version or the flat ones. Different insignia/symbols are a bonus!

I have some great pictures i took while in france of headstones from the War. Would my partner be ok recieveing these? Happy to snap somemore if these are not cool.

Having been a cemetery freak since a child I have only just started taking photos of them. New Zealand, as such, has only been around a couple of hundred years so our cemeteries are new by world standard. The earlier Maori graves are sacred and it is "tapu " to take photos of most of them, so they are out of bounds. I hope this is not a problem for anyone.

Personally I like was monuments.

I'm pretty easy going when it comes to cemetary pics...I really enjoy unique headstones, ones that have neat phrases on them or those who had a sense of humour. Older ones are preferred but newer, artsy ones are cool too. I just really love cemetaries everywhere :) I also have ones that I took while I was in Ireland that I can send if my partner would like as opposed to my hometown (which also has some sweet headstones too). Please let me know <3

LOL, I think when I be doing a picknick at a cemetery I can buring a few people in a split second. Because that is not really familiar in the Netherlands. I even had strange eyes which had followed me all the time when I took the pictures. Anyhow I managed it this afternoon and had made about 80 gorgous photo's at a cemetery in our neighbourhood. Hurray for the digital camera. So I join too.

I have quite a few cemetery photos...mostly in the south. Memphis, Savannah, Nashville have the best ones so far. I love the statuary from the victorian era. I did a cemetery swap last year and it was great fun...looking forward to another.

Kay - I've been to Arlington. I didn't get a lot of time to wander around though, I was just able to take a few photos.

I don't think I have any special requests - I like headstones with statuary, or ones that tell a story (either outright or with the dates and info), or just photos of scenic cemeteries ... I really am just looking forward to what you all have to offer!

I've got New England photos and maybe a few from Ireland. I'd like anything that's sculptural or stones with a story.

I am a newbie and i am so excited about this swap. Where my parents are buried, southeast Missouri Ozarks, we have a yearly luncheon in the cemetery. It used to be a time when all families gathered to clean the graveyard, hence called the "graveyard cleaning dinner". Modern times we donate money for someone to keep up the cemetery throughout the year, however we still meet on the exact same Saturday in August for the communal dinner as has been done for the past 100 yrs. The kids chase the lizards that live in the cemetery, they like the dry Ozark mountain climate, while the adults socialize and eat. Those pictures won't make it in time for this swap, but I will be prepared with them for the next one. Looking forward to visiting two historical cemeteries in St. Louis this weekend for this swap! Yeah!

im new but i think this is a swap i like, i have some pics hopefully in my online sprint stuff of cemetery in plymouth massachusettes which has some of the first american graves...id really like some pics of the famous graveyard in new orleans if anyone has them :)

Living in France I have taken quite a number of photos from the war graves and after poppy day ceromonies I hope my partner will be ok with these. I prefer historical ones and ones that are unusual. :)

hey PawPal, I am from St. Louis and you are going to LOVE the cemetaries there-I assume you will be visiting Bellefontaine & Calvary cemetaries in North St. Louis, those are the two most historic with many famous people, amazingly gorgeous headstones,statues & cemetary art and lots of mausoleums. I am going back "home" to visit in Sept. and have them on my list of places to go as I have not been there for a few years since moving. You are guaranteed to get some awesome shots for your collection! I have some really gorgoues & interesting images from old Hawaiian cemetaries, both native & Asian interrment. They are stunning in their difference of what we usually see. I'm so excited to see what I get from my partner! Happy snapping & swapping to all!

Here in Finland almost any of the graveyards aren't even close as interesting as the ones I've seen abroad. So I hope that my partners will be ok with pics I took just last month visiting Peré Lachaise in Paris. I took more photos of the graveyard than altogether other places in Paris.lol. I also have a couple of pics from the Catacombs of Paris.. I'd have liked to take more but using flash wasn't allowed and most of the time there it was too dim to take photos.. That's really a pity.. But it was really worth queuing! But are the catacombs counted as graveyar- um, thingies? Rome's catacombs were pretty too, but there taking photos was overall forbidden.. I have some unused PCs from there though

I don't have any special request unless you are from Ireland and could get one with a Celtic Cross which would please me a great deal. Otherwise, if you find the grave stone interesting then send it. And tell me why you think it is interesting or just that it is someone famous that would be great.

I love all cemetaries. If you're in America - as old as possible, but I LOVE statues in the cemetaries mostly.

I've been a cemetary photographer for years. I have LOTS from San Antonio and surrounding areas in Texas. I just came back from Ireland and have a few from there. While there I did not get close up images, but I have a few. I am stationed in Germany so I can get some good shots here if you have specific names or things you'd like to see. I'm in Heidelberg and am willing to travel up to an hour around me if you have a place in particular! Happy haunting...

Ooh! I'm excited. I'm happy I caught this one on the signup date! A cemetery near me does this awesome Halloween tour, people dress up like specific people buried in the cemetery and stand by their graves, and you get to go around and listen to them all talk about their lives. It's amazing! I think I'm going to go take my photos tomorrow!!! :D

I just returned from a trip to Arlington National Cemetery. All of my pics are digital and I did print out those I liked the most. I'd be up for a private swap if anyone wants Arlington specifically.

Hi Kay! Same goes here, whatever pics you have of stones. I went out today and took some. By the way, I've never been to New Zealand, but my husband was stationed at McMurdo Antartica, but based out of Christchurch. He has fond memories of visiting there on leave. He even sent me several pictures of all these beautiful blooming roses!

It was a shame when the Antarctic section in Christchurch downsized, it was great having all the American visitors, so much nicer than many of the locals at the time. Lol. We are about 5 minutes from where the base was.
