What's a board book? Well, you know...it's those chunky books for little kids with just a few pages. I find mine at the thrift store for less than $1. They're my favorite blank canvas since their heavy pages hold up so well to layers and embellishments. FUN STUFF: This is the perfect swap for those of you who have never tried altering a book, but want to try a new idea! Participants will alter a board book with a front cover, back cover and at least two pages in the middle...each page will be altered. The entire book should reflect some type of theme. This swap is sender's choice to one partner. Once you sign up you can start your project. The sign up time is short, but you will have lots of time to create before the send deadline. NOT SO FUN STUFF: Please send something you would love to receive. This swap is open to every group member and we're all at different levels of experience, so please rate fairly. Your rating should reflect the basic rating rules...not whether you like it or not. Slapping a sticker on a page is not altering. If you need inspiration just google "altered board books" for some amazing pictures. Send your swap on time.

Quick tip: I used to spend alot of time applying gesso to every page to cover up the illustrations/print. Today, I tried just peeling off the very top layer and it worked like a charm. Now, I have a perfect little blank book to alter.

Luleemilk, i want to alter every page, not just two!!!:) so, what you are saying is that each page needs to be a different theme, right? If so, this is great cuz i like to make different themed pages!!

Ok...:/ just got back from the only store here in kilmichael, and they had one board book... It has four pages so 8 pages front and back , including front and back cover... Gurss that will have to do:/

Thanks for joining everyone. I'm altering every page too! What I meant is it should have at least a front, back and two pages in the middle...mine has alot more. I just don't want someone to get a book with an altered cover and back and nothing in the middle:(

As far as each page having a theme, that's the way I work...but I don't want to stifle anyone's creative thinking. When my book is finished each page will tie into the total theme of the book.

Just go with it and have fun!! This is for all levels of experience, so I want everyone to feel comfortable with their creations.

I am finished with mine , well, all but the front and back of book. I have changed the front three times:/ I just can not seem to get it right!!!!!

I vote for the monthly thing :) I hate to pass up such a great swap when its simply a matter of timing...
